Catherine is a dedicated Suzuki and traditional cello instructor who maintains private studios in the Marriottsville, Sykesville and Eldersburg areas. She accepts students who are invested in the rewarding experience of learning an instrument. To learn more, click HERE.
Catherine Mikelson is an active teacher and performer in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. areas. She is a member of the Annapolis Symphony and is regularly engaged by the National Philharmonic and the Olney Theatre where her tone was described by the Washington Post as "glowing."
Catherine holds a Master of Music from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Music from the Peabody Conservatory which she earned under the guidance of National Symphony Orchestra Principal Cellist, David Hardy. Her other principal teachers have included James Lee of the National Symphony Orchestra and Anne Martindale Williams, Principal Cellist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Catherine is a dedicated teacher, using both Suzuki and traditional methods. She maintains private studios in Catonsville and Marriottsville and was formerly on faculty with the Levine School of Music.
Catherine is a registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. She has completed training in Suzuki Books 1-7 with teacher trainers Dr. Beth Cantrell, Nancy Hair and Carol Tarr, as well as a Cello Pedagogy course at the Peabody Conservatory with Bai-Chi Chen.
