
Catherine Mikelson is an in-demand cellist in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. areas. She is a member of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and frequently performs with the National Philharmonic Orchestra among other ensembles. Her performances have taken her to Strathmore Hall, Carnegie Hall, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Heinz Hall, Washington National Cathedral as well as concert halls in France and Spain.
A dedicated theater musician, Catherine is a frequent collaborator with Olney Theatre Center, where her playing was described by The Washington Post as “glowing.” She has also performed in productions with Center Stage, Arena Stage, GALA Hispanic Theatre, Studio Theatre, and Round House Theatre.
Beyond the stage, Catherine is an experienced community musician specializing in Creative Aging programs. She is passionate about connecting with older adults through music, fostering collaboration, and supporting a sense of well-being, creativity, and purpose.
Catherine earned a Master of Music degree from Carnegie Mellon University on a full merit scholarship and her Bachelor of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory, where she studied with David Hardy, Principal Cellist of the National Symphony Orchestra.
